The Company Gate (or "Cégkapu" in Hungarian) is a web portal where you can access official mail sent to your company by various Hungarian authorities. It's a step towards the digitalization of administration in Hungary, and registration for the Company Gate is mandatory for all companies.

Similar to a virtual office, the "Company Gate" is an electronic repository where official mail sent to your company is always accessible. Each time an official letter is received from the tax authority, a notification will be sent to the email address provided. You can then log in to the Company Gate to view the message. This ensures that all official mail is delivered to you without delay and that these messages are available at any time.

The purpose of the Company Gate is for all official communication to take place electronically through the Company Gate.

How to register a company for the Company Gate?

Registering a company for the Company Gate is possible if you already have access to the Client Gate ("Ügyfélkapu" in Hungarian) – this is a similar electronic repository intended for individuals who are residents or citizens of Hungary. If you are not a resident or citizen, you can authorize a person who is.

The person registering the company for the Company Gate should be one of the following:

• a managing director,
• an owner,
• the company's lawyer,
• the company's accountant, whether in-house or external.

It is recommended to create a new, separate email address exclusively for receiving official messages from authorities via the Company Gate. This way, official letters will not get lost among other correspondence. Letters arriving at this address can be forwarded to your accountants or other relevant individuals.

Is registration for the Company Gate mandatory?

Yes, registration is mandatory. You must register your company on the Company Gate within 8 days of its registration. If you fail to do so, you risk missing official communications from Hungarian authorities. You may also be fined for not responding to messages promptly, as well as for not being registered on the Company Gate.
